Windows: Two v2rayN editions

v2rayN

7.24.1

Recommended

Windows x64 · Desktop edition / classic WPF edition

The Desktop edition uses a next-generation cross-platform UI. It’s a good fit for first-time v2rayN users and anyone who wants a consistent experience across desktop systems. The classic WPF edition is a stable Windows version for users familiar with the traditional window layout. Both editions support subscription groups, node selection, system proxy settings, and routing. Choosing an interface doesn’t mean choosing a different subscription service.

Both downloads are archives. Fully extract the file before running the installer; don’t launch it from the archive preview. Keep your configuration backup in a separate folder. When switching editions for the first time, check that your subscriptions and custom routes load correctly before removing files from the old version.

What to configure after downloading

The package installs the client only. Set up subscriptions, nodes, and routing for your needs.

01 · Import your configuration

Start with a valid subscription

Get the full subscription URL from a service you’re authorized to use, create a subscription group in the client, and update it. Subscription URLs may contain personal access credentials; don’t share them in public screenshots or chat logs. This download page doesn’t provide personal nodes, and installing a client won’t create a connection automatically.

After importing, check that the expected entries appear in the group, then select a node. If the list is empty, verify the URL, subscription status, and update log before switching clients or deleting your configuration. See the subscription import guide for steps.

02 · Test the connection

Connect first, then adjust routing

Select a node, start the proxy, and test a website in your browser. Node test results are only a guide; app connectivity also depends on system proxy settings, routing rules, and DNS. Start with a simple, clear configuration, then add custom rules one at a time to see what changes.

On desktop, check that the system proxy is enabled; on Android, make sure the VPN service is running. If you’re connected but websites won’t load, follow the Troubleshooting steps. Don’t change ports, DNS, routing, and the core all at once—you’ll turn one problem into several.

Download and installation FAQs

Check the package format, processor architecture, and client configuration before troubleshooting a specific error.

Which v2rayN version should I choose for Windows: Desktop or classic WPF?

New users can start with the Desktop edition, which uses a next-generation cross-platform interface. If you prefer the familiar menu layout, choose the classic, stable WPF edition. Both support subscription and proxy settings. Back up your configuration before switching, and run only one client during initial testing to avoid local port conflicts.

Should I download the arm64 or universal Android build?

Most mainstream phones released after 2015 should use arm64, but the supported app architecture depends on the operating system. Choose the universal build for older devices, devices running custom systems, or when you can’t confirm the architecture. Universal packages are usually larger; that doesn’t make the connection faster.

Do I need a subscription or node configuration after installing the client?

Yes. The client reads configuration, runs the proxy, and applies routing rules; the installer doesn’t include a personal subscription you can use right away. Get a subscription URL or node details you’re authorized to use, then import and update them and select a node by following the instructions. The client is free; third-party services may charge separately.

How do I keep my subscriptions and routing settings when upgrading?

Use the client’s export or backup feature to save subscription groups, custom routes, and essential settings. Store the backup outside the installation directory. Exit the old client before upgrading, then check that your configuration is intact when you first launch the new version. Don’t overwrite configuration files in an unfamiliar format when switching interface versions or core families.

What should I do if the installer won’t open or the system warns me about a security risk?

Confirm the download finished and that you chose the right platform and architecture. Note the full warning message. Fully extract Windows archives; check macOS Security settings for the specific block reason; on Android, check installation permissions and signature conflicts with an existing app; on Linux, review dependency information from the package installer. Don’t leave system protection disabled just to install the app.

What if clicking the download button doesn’t start the download?

Check your browser’s downloads list for an existing task or a permission prompt that paused it. Refresh the page and try once more. If it still fails, note the error, client name, and package type, then check your network and available disk space. Don’t paste a subscription URL into a download link or create repeated download tasks.
